Texas Statewide Adoption Services
AIM Adoptions is passionate about finding the best outcomes for babies, birth mother, and waiting families. We are more than willing to work with any birth family in the state of Texas. We have traveled from one end of Texas to the other to help a birth mother make an adoption plan for her child. After all, Texas means “friendship.”
Our History
Founded in 1984 as Gulf Coast Placements, then becoming Alternatives in Motion, and now doing business as AIM Adoptions we continue to go strong! We have files for nearly 1700 children that have been adopted through our adoption agency in Houston and all of Texas. Everyone who works at AIM Adoptions has been touched by adoption in some way, so we take each case personally and can empathize well. Recently, we were referred to as the “Cadillac of adoption agencies.” We believe in what we do!

We're here to help you
The AIM Adoptions staff is made up of many who have been touched by adoption. We all take our responsibilities seriously and understand that our services must be handled in a sensitive and loving manner.
Although we are qualified, educationally, to provide adoption services in Houston, we believe our true value is in our life experiences and how we relate to the people who seek our assistance. We're real people who know how to laugh and have fun. We're a family that takes the time to cry and laugh with each other. Each of us brings different attributes to this "family" and we are better for it.

Denise Sowders
Licensed Child Placement Administrator /Director of Family Services
Denise went back to school and was required to do an internship for her degree. She chose AIM Adoptions and AIM chose her. She started working in Maternity Services 16 years ago. Since 2002, she has completed both her Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Psychology.
For the last several years she has been loving adoptive parents as the Director of Family Services She also is the Licensed Child Placing Administrator. She is the mother of 4 — 2 adults adopted through an international adoption and two AIM baby girls now 19 and 16 through transracial adoption. She and her husband are also raising four granddaughters aged 12, 10, 9 and 6.
Morgan McAdams
Administrative Assistant
Morgan has been an advocate for adoption since the beginning of (her) time and recently began to pursue a career in that field. We have strongly encouraged this pursuit because Morgan has a special ability to make everyone feel comfortable; whether it be adoptive couples or birth parents. She is currently acting as Denise’s right-hand-woman, helping with the mounds of correspondence and filing.
Also, whenever you are at an AIM Adoptions function, you will notice Morgan quietly working behind the scenes to help the staff make the function run smoothly.
Malinda Miller
Director of Maternity Services
Malinda has worked with AIM since the birth of her second child (27 years ago) when she volunteered during her maternity leave from another job. When it came time to “go back to work,” Malinda asked to be considered for any position that came available because she didn’t want to work for a paycheck any longer…she wanted to make a difference.
Malinda comes with a background in accounting, but soon found a love for working with birth mothers. We all smile when she walks into the office from meeting a new client…we know what’s coming next: “I just met so-and-so and she is soooooooooo sweet.”
Melody Allington
Accounting/Administrative Support
Before having children, Melody worked with AIM providing support to birth mothers. Taking a few years’ hiatus to get a good hold on parenting, Melody returned to us to provide support to Malinda.
Melody is Malinda’s right-hand-woman, and sometimes she throws in her arm — up to the shoulder — when the rest of the staff need her help with anything from taking a birth mother to the grocery store to gathering taxable items and food from the pantries.
At the same time, she is responsible for paying the bills, balancing the checkbook, and seeing to it that we bring her all of the receipts.
